CB400F Rear Wheel Spacers..
« on: July 17, 2013, 02:29:32 PM »
Hi,
There are 2 axle spacers either side of the rear wheel, one being slightly longer than the other.  The parts manual gives part numbers, but no clue to their respective lengths. Can anybody pls verify which side the longer piece goes..... I have my thoughts but want it verified.

Cheers,
Simon.

One spacer has a line machined around it, that goes the exhaust side so it follows the other one goes sprocket side.

Aye carrumba! Conflicting answers.  Just by 'looking at it' I would have guessed the longer one (ie with machined line) goes against the sprocket - better clearances on the sprocket guard. Plus the torque arm (correctly orientated) appears to be better in line. But uncertain... Kent, is your info 100% certain?

Cheers gents, Simon

Hi,
The cmsl parts drawing clearly shows the spacer with the groove round it is on the brake drum side----Ken

Lobo, had a look at my 400f  twice now! And that's how it is, the spacer with the grove around it is the brake back plate side.
