K3 mixture with motad
« on: September 28, 2013, 01:16:48 AM »
Hi all,
Just started the K3 for the first time after restoration. It is running very lean with a motad exhaust does anyone have the jetting for this set up.
Can I lift the needles one notch or does it need re jetting.

Just from lots of previous experience with motads , i have never had to re-jet, are you sure the carbs are all set correct with standard jets, and are totally clean

I agree with Pete, rejetting is not normally required, but carb problems are very common often taking several stripdowns and lots of trial and error with settings. The K3 especially as I believe they were set quite lean to start with, so good luck!

Thanks,
I will check the float levels again. The carbs were thoroughly cleaned before installing them.

My F2 has a Motad, no re-jetting. I don't have PD carbs though, if that makes a difference. I know PD's were leaned out to meet US emissions.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Set/sit. Bought/brought FFS. Bloody Americans.

Hi,
I have PD carbs. Does anyone know the jet sizes and needle settings for a 77 K3 .
I have the manual but this does not give them for a K3
Is the float height 14.4 for these carbs.
Thanks

Hi Paul 550 k3 settings are (from Honda k3 supplement) main jet 90, air jet 130, slow jet 38, slow air jet 150, jet needle 3rd groove, float height 14.5mm. If you let me have your email address I can send a copy, it has all the info on differences of k3 model, regards Mick
