cant change avatar

Hi been trying to change my avatar, but when trying to uplad a new one I'm getting an error messgae "either the picture is not an avatar or the file is too big" .... even when I wipe the vatar completely and try to reload the one I was currently using it says the same error message

I think this must be same thing that's stopping downloads of attachments.

I'll need some help from SMF on this because my server people can't work out what's wrong...

I also have the same problem with the avatar pic,and also gallery pictures,just get a funny logo in the centre
