Assume these are for a 400/500/550 where the seal locates in a recess in the bowl face? If they're flush / hard then they need replacement. I use a set of draper 'mini hook / picks' when refurbishing my carbs. Find them really useful and are strong / well made. Just be careful not to 'gouge' the aluminium as the draper tools appear to be made from stainless.

Throw then in the oven for a bit and then pick it out with a safety pin.

My missis has always got the oven on James. So easy to throw them in for a minute or two. Have to try that with the hot water.

:-). Luckily my ultrasonic tank is heated so i normally pick them out straight from the tank. My mrs would kill me if I stuck bike parts in the oven.....(errr that sounded a bit wrong)..

just done mine, used a Stanley knife blade, if the replacements are round then a spot of superglue at each corner helps to locate them in the groove.
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration
