CR750 fuel tank supplier in the UK
« on: February 26, 2014, 07:46:13 PM »
Is there a supplier in the UK for CR750 rep tanks to fit the CB frame?

I quite fancy that route now, found the guy in Czech Rep doing them but that's going to be close on £700 by the time I got it...

Cheers.

Asa Moyce  (Bartel Engineering) in Ireland does them but last time i checked there was a 12 month waiting list. I think the cost was about £600 per tank. He supplies Mead Speed i believe.

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall that glassfibre petrol tanks are not permitted for road use by motorcycles in the U.K., although legislation may have changed now

Yes I was concerned about that so I checked with my local bike MOT guy before I got the tank, it's not a problem, the material isn't specified at all in the regulations as far as I remember.

Yes, nicely made little seat unit, bit pricey with the VAT though!, I got the tank from a guy in the Netherlands called John Clarijs, here's a video of him testing a 181, the tank seems good for the price but as I say it's only a stop gap until I get an alloy tank, from Mead speed probably, it came with fuel taps and rubber mounting straps £235 including delivery, I've seen one fitted and painted it looked spot on, the bottom edge isn't rolled as it is on the alloy tanks but it looked smart, here is his email address if you need one, mailto:john@onsneteindhoven.nl

Thanks I have emailed them, on their website they say they are about to produce tanks specifically for the CB750, I have asked if they will be CR750 replicas, I need one, how many other users on this forum require a CR750 replica tank?.

Yes I would like one, would probably build another bike under it using a pre 72 frame.

I have a mail from Mead Speed asking if I want to stand in the queue.

Ok Pete, I'll post their response on here when I get it, as I said their website just says they are about to produce a tank specifically for the CB750 instead of converting their CB550 tank to fit the 750 frame, I have asked if it will be a CR tank, the converted 550 tank they show has had a chin pad recess added so I get the impression they are thinking CR.
