Guard on backwards? Give us a wider picture.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Set/sit. Bought/brought FFS. Bloody Americans.

It' a bit hard to tell from the photo's but can the brackets be bent so that the mudguard sits closer to the tyre, the bend would then give greater clearance between the bracket and the tyre, at present the bracket looks like A, can you joggle it to look like B ?. (apologies photo is upside down)

What size tyre? Is it actually rubbing? If it doesn't rub don't worry about it as the tyre will only grow in height, not width when its rotating.
Is your brake line pushing against the bracket?
And give us a straight on shot of the wheel/guard.

Hi,
Just checked mine on the brake side you should be able to get your little FINGER down between the guard and the tyre.If you cant you either have a warped guard or your tyre is too dare I say in this day too fat.
Cheers

Thanks for all your help, the tyre size is 100/90/19, so this should not be a problem? my only thought is that when the mudguard went to  chrome (in three bits, top bracket, bottom stay, and mudguard), they bent it somehow?
Any other ideas would be appreciated. many thanks again

100/90x19 is the same as mine so there shouldn't be a problem.
