before I started this bike never worked on a bike

I have done to recap

top end gasket rebuild
carbs cleaned and new jets

back to standard airbox

wheel bearings changed front and rear

fork seals changed

tank flushed
new throttle cables

new piston caliper, new pads

earth points cleaned and grounded at coil, side of engine and rear mudguard

there is loads more but cant remember

oil is yet to be put in along with fresh petrol

main concern is lack of oil around engine

wiring all connectors cleaned, new rectifier and regulator

Hi MikeM,

You could take the plugs out remove rocker cover and turn the engine over BY HAND to make sure your getting oil up to the top of the engine.

I've always done by hand (but then I wasn't running a business)

If you take the plugs out and crank by hand (or foot) until the oil lamp goes out.

Very satisfying...    :)

I have always built engines with Graphogen , so no worry's turning the motor over on the start button. I find just leaving a couple of tappet caps off to see if the oil is reaching the top end.

Graphogen is great stuff. You can even do a bench start & run test without oil. Beds in the parts a treat. Never used STP, but i think it was for you older boy's. ;)
