CB750K0 Inlet manifold rubbers

Hi all,

The saga continues with my 1970 750k0. I am having problems with the inlet manifold rubbers - is there a particular technique for getting them to fit far enough over the studs to create a seal? I have pushed them on as far as I could but cannot get rid of the air leaks.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Not totally up to speed with KO rubbers but
just put my K2 together and if they are the same i just put a wipe of washing up liquid around them and a light tap with a rubber mallet.
You need to get the orientation right ie. cylinder numbers at the top (if they have them on yours)
then carbs on and then airbox and inlet rubbers.
My airbox to carb rubbers needed replacing as when assembled were too short,had shrunk over the years, new ones were 5mm longer,

They are probably hardened with the heat and fuel and may need replacing or some people soften them with an essential oil brew. I used Reofos 50 but it's not available for DIY. Look on SOHC.net US site. There are tons of posts on this on using Winter Green , I believe.

Be REALLY careful with the alloy carb bridge piece as they have a tendency to break in the middle. Don't ask me how I know this!

Replace them with new is best but if you want to re-use yours a reasonable bodge is to heat them up with a hot air gun, they will slide easily onto the mounts when hot, don't be afraid to use a lot of heat, they live in a hot environment.

+1 on using heat and washing up liquid.

Another tip is to use a ratchet strap ( or I used a rope 'tornique' ) around motor and carbs to apply constant pressure while you 'jiggle and shove them around as its hard to keep pressure on while doing this.

If they are on ok but leaking are you using the proper clamps?
