dripping tap

my petrol tap is dripping even when off. not much but enough to drip out of the exhaust when starting up after a week.

is there any way to adjust/tighten ?

Is yours screwed on to the tank by a big nut?If so you could try taking it to bits and clearing any shite that's lodged behind the tap lever.If no good replace it.

Billy thats a typical problem of not replacing the fibre washers under the heads of the two screws holding the tap to the tank, petrol comes down the threads and bypasses the on/off part so flooding out one or more carbs if the float needles are not perfect

I'll not cover the advice already given but add that if you think you've had neat petrol accumilating in the cylinders when not in use, then you need to check the the engine oil is not diluted with it as it will run past the piston rings down the bore.......not good for any of the bearings.

Also there is a risk of bending conrods in extreme cases so make sure you're happy you've cured it.

Mine has no screws for the fiberes it is quiet new
