Brake lever pedal conundrum 500 k1
« on: July 27, 2014, 12:38:22 AM »
I have a crudely shortened brake pedal which would be perfect for a rider with size 4 boot...however, I'm a size 11, so I'm looking for a replacement. Is the 550,  in particular the 75 model,  brake pedal compatible with my '71 k1. Thanks for any opinion.

Hi I think there are 3 different types of rear brake levers, the 500 type is tubular and almost straight, also fits the early 550s (k models like the 500 US market), then the 550 F which had a flat metal construction to clear the footrest and 4/1 exhaust. The 550 k3 was different again, tubular but with a deep curve. I have a 500 and also a 550 f lever both will need rechroming.
cheers, Mick
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration
