Hi to everyone
« on: August 02, 2014, 07:06:54 PM »
Hi, David here from Cumbria west coast.
Just a quick hello to all and a quick bio.
Have had a number of bikes over the years (15 or 16) but only have the 2 atm. Main bike is a BMW R100RT and my latest winter project is an imported CB550K3. I owned one of these in the early 80's which I regretted selling the moment I handed the keys over to the new owner. Wish I had hung onto it if only because the last part of the number plate was 550K - talk about gutted!
Bike is in fairly fine fettle - started up first push of the button despite having stood for a long time. Will be stripping it down and slowly rebuilding when the nights start drawing in. In the meantime, drawing up a wish list of much needed parts - top of the list those 4 exhaust pipes though they seem to cost more than the bike! Will probably be asking lots of daft questions and asking for advice.
Anyway, look forward to chatting with you all.
David

Hi David.

After years of these exhausts being totally unavailable from any source, David Silver Spares has managed to get them remanufactured and sells them for £699 (+shipping +VAT).

Good luck with your resto.

Steve

Like the Postman Pat Avatar picture BTW.  Hope you don't drive like him though as I was watching him once and he indicated one way and turned the other !

Welcome David,

I've had loads of good tips from this forum, having joined when I started to strip my 400/4. In my view, joining here is a good start to your project. I hope to post some tips of my own soon!

Fond memories of my trips to Lands End and John'o'Groats in 1978 on my Suzuki T500 (rubbish bike) and my mate on his CB550 (great bike in that famous and lovely Honda brown).

Good luck with your poject.

D.

Indicators used to be optional extras in BMWs, nowadays more usually specified by owners of white Audis...
