Carb to manifold inlet rubbers
« on: August 05, 2014, 08:29:57 AM »
Hi all,
Got a set of these from Silvers for my K3 and the fit was shocking, would not seal with the clamps (also from silvers) so the bike pulling air and taking a long time to settle to idle.
I contacted Silvers and they said I had ordered the wrong set and needed another part for the K3 which I duly ordered at full price. Well these are as bad >:( so my issue is are the rubbers crap or is it the clamps also from silvers which are rubbish. Has anyone else had these problems. I have tried packing between the rubbers and the clamps but still not good and really should not have to do this with new parts.
has anyone seen any other clamps that are a good fit.
Moan over

Hi Paul,
I have trouble getting hold of these clamps and have bought second hand inlet rubbers just to get the clamps. There is a seller on ebay that goes the inlet rubbers with clamps fitted. They look the same type as what Cruzinimage  sell. > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Cb550-k-New-Carb-Inlet-Rubbers-Clamps-Manifolds-/121373382540?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item1c426ad78c

Never tried these myself but, worth a mail. Anymore old brake pipes going cheap paul?  In need of another set.

I bought some a while ago for the 750 fully tightened CRAP spun on the manifold. In the end I used a new set of the clamps for the carb to airbox fitted just right just don't over tighten them and The Honda ones are still available.May be the same for 550 don't know.
Cheers

I had some for my 500 last year from silvers and they were fine but I used genuine clamps. I think Oddjob has a set of genuine rubbers, worth asking him.
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration

Paul, phone DSS and complain. I had some so called OEM top shock nuts from him and the chrome was all down the inside of the thread. I will take those brake lines Please and this time ebay and Paypal will not get its cut.

I just tried a couple of clamps from DS but they do not tighten enough, just used 8mm jubilee clips in the end and they fitted and tightened up a treat
