Another "Hello"

Nick here, from British Columbia, Canada. I'm a relative newcomer to the sohc 'scene', having just bought my CB650 in May. I also have a '71 Commando and a '68 CB175. I needed a 'newer' bike to enable me to do the temporay 1000km 'commute' to a new job I just started, and found the 650, a '79, for sale in the lower mainland.

The riding season here is rapidly coming to an end so I did my last long ride the other weekend, 1000km home, non-stop. Not sure how much more riding I'll get in since I am now back here in the north and the bike is at home! I've put 9500km under the wheels since I got the 650.

Started riding as a lad in England, on a '72 CB175. Didn't get my first 'big' bike, a '77 GS750, until I had moved to Canada. I've been a motorcycle riding instructor and am now a driver examiner.

I am a member of other forums (in North America) and just can't get enough of the information and viewpoints that sohc owners have. I'm looking forward to association with all you guys and gals.

Hi Nick...

I started on a CB125S but quickly moved on to a CB175 (it was a '72 I think, \"K\" reg anyway). I rode this from my Uni (Brighton) to my girlfriend's (Nottingham) most weekends for a year and bought my first real bike - the 500 in my avatar.

I didn'y buy a bigger bike until this year (VFR800)

My 175 had Dunstall \"silencers\" on it as the originals had rotted. What a noise. The 360 degree motor certainly made music (compared to the 180 degree 250/350/360s of the time.
