« on: November 18, 2014, 07:36:12 PM »
Hi All
I sure someone must know the answer to this.
I have an imported bike from the USA.
imported in 2012 I have a declaration of import number  etc
is this all i will need to register it (after restoration).
I know i need to get a verification from Honda.
and a form from DVLA.
Cheers

The bike will also need a MOT and insured on the frame number. There is a guy in Leicester that does age related papers, can't remember his name at the moment.

If it was imported in 2012 it probably wont be on the nova database, you probably have import form 389 which means it has to be re-registered on the nova data base, before you go ahead and try to register,i have heard it is as easy as just sending off form 389 with a covering letter, i hope it is that easy as i have 3 to do, then you have the mot insure and register with dvla

From personal experience I would start all paper work now....it can drag on
Get as much sorted as you can as you go along...
Believe me its a right arse having a finished bike and then spending 3 months sorting paper work out before Its ready to get out there....
Remember you are now dealing with the HM revenue and customs and the dvla ....... 2 government bodies...do I need to say any more?
even better if you know a friendly mot guy who will help you muddle the bike through sooner( if you know what i mean) great then there is nothing really holding you up

Dont know about Nova as thats new to me but i can say a letter from Honda for proof of year of build is better than any other dating service as others mean you have to have the bike inspected by DVLA, also do not get insurance until everything else is done as you will only get 30 days on a frame number insurance even though you have to pay for the year
