Idle screws
« on: January 19, 2015, 03:49:48 PM »
Am off work today so thought I would have a go at getting the tickover better on my other F2.

The bike runs absolutely brilliant, but the tickover has always been lumpy, sometimes too fast sometimes stalling. It also makes the clutch rattle.

Started by checking points then strobing the timing (it was already spot on). Put the gauges on and balanced the carbs (again already spot on). Put my new digital rpm multimeter on to set the idle screws. Started 1.5 turns out then did the adjustments monitoring engine speed. It now ticks over much better but the screws are out 3.25 turns. Is this acceptable, seems way off its suggested starting point. Cheers.
