Non Honda owning newbie.

Hey there everyone, yes I'm a new member and as my subject title suggests I don't even own a Honda.

I have owned three during my motorcycling time though, a 600 Hornet followed by an X11 and going back to when I was sixteen a SS125A.

I do have a couple of bikes in my garage at the moment, a Kawasaki KH400A3 and a Bridgestone 350 GTR. The KH for the moment is a keeper, other bikes I've owned recently are two Suzuki RE5 models M and A, Suzuki Stinger T125, Bridgestone 350 GTR and a Kawasaki MT1B, all fully restored and shown nationally then sold to finance new projects.

So what am I doing here you may be wondering? Well for my next restoration I fancy an early CB750 so I'm watching the adds on the net and listings on eBay to see how the market goes, when the right bike comes up I'll know, I think?

I'll also be reading past posts on this forum for any tips or problems to look out for.

Hi Welcome .. Bridgestone sounds interesting. Any history? From what I read they are quality machines but they dropped out of bikes to concentrate on tyre manufacture.

Which model 750 are you looking for? You are in the right place for advice on here or possible links to a decent buy.

How are 'Weird'  and 'Gilly' BTW  ;D

Oh and K0 750's are money pits that create obsessive behaviour and strange character mood swings, when you miss out on that elusive part after staying up all night to bid on eBay!

Hi Mike how's you doing?

In answer to AshimotoKO I think I prefer the K2 unless someone will let me know why another model is a better buy, I know about KOs and I presume you have one, yes expensive.

As for Derryl Mike and his collection I think he has time on his hands to decide if he wants to sell.

Welcome to the mad world of SOHC. CB750K2's  UK units are not cheap these days.

400four is SORNed for the winter and I'm restoring a 650 Katana.   It's a bit of a rat but I think of it as a very long term project: something to keep me occupied.

Ash I've just realized I never answered your question regarding the GTR history.

Bridgestone only made approximately 7,500 350 GTRs from 67-70, it was their biggest capacity machine a two stroke twin with side valve carbs, chrome bores, a six speed gearbox and dry clutch, it was advertised as the most technically advanced motorcycle at the time.

Records show only about 32 came to the U.K. but few have survived, mine came from the States as many classics do now. I bought it unseen and a non runner, it had many problems and cost a small fortune to restore but it was all worth while when it took second place at Stafford in the 60s section. It was then sold to a collector.

The full restoration was covered in Tansha over three issues in early 2014. I now have another that I'm presently restoring.

I've been looking more intensely recently for an early CB750, like many potential owners I'd like an all there decent one to restore. Problem is I'm not familiar with all the different versions so wouldn't recognize a K2 with a K4 engine fitted as presently listed on eBay or a similar mixed version. So to help I've bought this book that should be delivered early next week http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391017579035 Hope that helps me, any advise appreciated.

So if anyone knows of anything I could possibly be interested in then let me know, not the K0 version thanks.
