Intake differences - which to use?
« on: February 15, 2015, 04:50:17 PM »
I've got three engines sitting here by now, and two have intakes with a screw/port in the side, and one doesn't.   Wondering which I should use in the current build.  Which is best?

Those screws/ports are where you attach vacuum gauges to synchronise the carbs, use those!:))
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

Confirmed what I thought.  Unfortunately those are in worse shape - time for more prep and paint!

The ports you use will depend on which type of carbs you have.

The PD46 carbs have their own sync ports so you will use the intakes without.
If you have the other carbs (without the sync ports) you will need the intakes with the ports.

Check your carbs - good luck - you seem to be storming on with your project  8)

Thanks for the info.  The intakes that came off my carbs have the synch ports, so I'll be using those.  What a learning curve this all is!
