400/4 Horn Switch
« on: February 24, 2015, 09:09:29 PM »
Hi Chaps
More advice please.
The horn switch on my 400 was very loose and sloppy, I had to keep wiggling it around and eventually the horn would sound. I thought it may be a loose connection so had a look inside . All the wires are attached  but there was a minute little screw missing that appeared to hold things together in there. I replaced the screw which made the horn switch, and everything else, tighter but the horn won't work again now. What am I doing wrong, any ideas?

Probably lost it Graham as I was very carefully taking it apart, using my trusty hammer of course  ::) ::) ::)

Probably got a spare spring.. can put it with bands once they are ready. I have also given away the tiny M2 nut and bolt to others on here as I used lots of them on a mechanism I make and buy them in 100's.

Ash and Lynx thanks very much.
Ash whatever you could send would be greatfully received and Lynx, no, I had not seen that post. Although it's the LHS I have apart at the moment that post will be invaluable if I need to take the RHS apart.

Thanks very much chaps

Hi Julie,

Might be worth waving a magnet around your floor pending Ash's delivery... you never know what else you might attract!

Another method is put a bit of a pair of tights across the tube of a vacuum cleaner to act as a trap/filter for tiny bits... learned that from a Womans Own mag that was the only thing in the docs waiting room. Also how to take an OXO cube in it's foil, squeeze it in your hand and you end up with a little square sachet of powder, that you can cut the corner off to empty the contents without it touching your skin.. Get on with your work Ash and stop bantering  ::) :-[

Ash: that's a damn useless idea for those of us that don't wear tights.

Julie: Also - take the dogs to work and get them x-ray'd.

There are lots of things ladies tights can be used for but, I will not go into these on this forum  :o :o :o. Have found the spring, it was there all the time, exactly where is should be, very weak though so a new on is still needed. Dogs safe for now !!!!
