Can you register this forum as a (historical and eco-friendly) charity and thus benefit from Gift Aid to boost the coffers?

Just a thought.

Occasionally chucking in some cash in appreciation of advice received is like buying a pint for the old mechanic who helped me out.

Oddjob
Fair comment and it does not offend in the least. You have put it in a more diplomatic way as at times I say it as I see it.The main thing is in one way or another we members and not Steve stumps for it all after all its in all our intrests to see it continue,YES?Buying, selling, advice etc and would myself prefer to sub this site a few bob than ebay ripping me off

As the recipient of this money, I try to stay out of these conversations.

However, I must say a big thankyou to everyone who donates (and to Saisei who paid me for their "Ad").

The site costs about £400 + VAT per year to host and a little bit more to maintain the registration. All my time is free.

If I get donations to cover that then I'm happy. [I'd still do it even if there weren't any donations though]

You are very generous.

I don't want to run a membership site. I've had bad experiences in the past (when I had a VFR800). I wouldn't join a site that demands an annual fee and so I wouldn't ask you to either.

If we can raise £400-£500 per annum in donations then I'm happy.

No I would not want any off that crap but from my quick sums the site has 1338 members, you think 500 quid is enough to maintain it,so my sums says 37 pence a year for all.Frackin hell I lose that dough most days down the settee,Is this too much for all or will they wait long enough to say when its gone derr didn't know that.USE IT OR LOSE IT last I say on it.All these feelings come from when I was a newbie forgot all but with the wisdom from all came flooding back and I thank them immensely to name a few Bryan,Mick, yourself and some like me newbies
Appreciate you all
Cheers

How about this for an idea. Quite a few of us on here give never to be used smallish  bits  away for on here for free. I personally am glad to part with anything I am never likely to use myself  and the bits are not worth the hassle of selling but can be hard to find elsewhere. How about an optional donation to the site whenever anyone gives something away on here for nowt? I am sure even if it was only a quid or so it would mount up.

Just going to donate myself now following James's lead ! ;)
