What's a reasonable price for a 550?
« on: April 29, 2015, 11:40:52 AM »
Selling my 550 I've had since 86. Can't keep it as I have nowhere to keep it safe and rust free. Some beestards tried to steal it a few nights ago.
So I'm looking for a ballpark figure to work around.
I'd appreciate your input chaps.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Set/sit. Bought/brought FFS. Bloody Americans.

Ok, without any recent pictures available.
It's a fully functional 550F2 without any mechanical problems. New front rim/spokes, chainguard, indicators, seat, grab rail, side panels, cam chain slippers etc., front guard, good 2nd hand rear guard from US, decals, taper steering bearings, frame, hagon shocks, fork tubes, Motad and some other stuff I just can't remember at this late hour.

I've been looking at prices recently as I'm considering selling my k3. I'd say 1200 to 1800. Just my opinion, as always it's  worth what someone is willing to pay and a good advert helps.

Was sorta guesstimating around 1500 so I'm not too far away. Thanks for the input.

Sort of sounds about the right ballpark, but if I were being picky I would want tank and sidepanles to match, remembering that buyers will always try to haggle price down...
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

Been trying to get the tank matched for 6 years. It's either they can't do it or I can't afford their prices. Lot's of hassle trying to get paint in NI.

From y own point of view I tend to agree with you, proper paint jobs are really ott price wise for the benefit. Probably why my current bike is rattle can black. I haven't too much idea if getting a paint job would pay off for selling it, but have a feeling it might be worth it, my new job is reconditioning machinery, and the emphasis on new looking paintjobs is pretty heavy, as are the margins they get.
