New member East Grinstead Sussex with Honda CB550K3
« on: June 01, 2015, 09:18:10 AM »
[ Guests cannot view attachments ] Returned to the saddle after a 28 year break and bought a K3 exactly the same as I sold all those years ago. Would like to meet any other 550 owners in the south and maybe have a 550 owners meet somewhere

Hi from a windy Kent coast.
I have a 550 but it's off the road at the moment, otherwise I'd be up for 550 get together.

Hi from Dungeness. I Used to live across the forest from you in Crowborough until a couple of years ago. I have a 550K3 also, in boxes and buckets at the moment !!!I hope it looks as good as yours one day. I have a lovely 400/4 which gives me my 'classic' fix regularly. Have fun and enjoy riding on Ashdown Forest.

That they seem to clog easily or go out of balance etc I think is the basic grounds for disliking them. I cirtainly found this to be the case, though they do once working spot on give better economy, though if they give enough to justify the trouble of getting them right, well, that is a matter of how you use the bike. Worth a bit of extra trouble for something in daily use, where I found they were fine, a bike that is stood a lot of the time I think is where they give trouble and little gain.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

Not Bryanj, is enought ;D. I have my 550K3 and run well with the PD carbs, in the past it came with a 550F carbs and I take off and put the PD carbs, for the moment no problem, and for me, is more easy to sync that my 400 Four carbs.....
Regards.

Belated comment. if you read all my posts on the forum  you'll gather that the bike is in weekly use but has it's quirks -  the PD carbs will be the death of me as no matter what I've tried it still struggles to tick over, and it also seems to have intermittent charging problems. However I love it to bits and will never part with it.
