Ok, im using the 550 hub and 17" x 4.25 rim from a Triumph.

How do i go about measuring to deciding what length spokes i need? Nothing i have read on the internet seems to make sense to me.

That is a bit of a challenge. Why a 17" ? I would say half a inch shorter than the STD 550 spoke but, it never works like that.
