Finish on Honda Auto -advance units

Put a couple of auto advance units into the Ashimoto patent vibratory polisher and they came out looking pretty nice. I don't think these were ever plated, so what does everyone think about final finish to match original? Spray with WD40 maybe or was there a surface finish? They are Nippon Denso (ND) and Hitachi manufactured.

They were probably just passivated zinc plated

Hmmm can't see any form of zinc plating on any of mine.

No plating on my 350 unit either. Its was absolutely red rusty, took and age to get it working again.
