Engine noise when on side stand
« on: July 19, 2015, 10:56:53 AM »
Hi all !! Its been a while since I posted / or more asked for some advice on here .

I hope some one can help me. with my issue ,

I have just finished my USA K6 Restoration , I did nearly all execpt open the lower end of the bike , Which I think I should have also done !! .I will post some pics later on.!!

MY Problem is that apart from the clutch rattle that these bikes make when idling I have a like a noise of a sort of gear noise when the bike is on the side stand. When then I put it straight this goes!!

Has anyone here ever experienced this? :-[ any ideas on what to look for ?

Thanks

Is the noise there if you incline the bike to the same angle as when it's on the side stand but without the side stand actually touching the ground?

Often it is noise transmitted down through the met sidestand, amplified by the road surface. If the noise ceases as soon as the stand is clear of the road, there is generally not a problem. It goes quiet because the tyres are full of air and cushion out any vibratiion/noise.
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!
