having done a few searches regarding rectifiers etc, is it a good idea to fit a combined reg/rec instead of the standard set up? and if so, which is the best one to buy? thanks.

They can be good but must have all good earths and never fit tje battery wrong way or they are instant toast

I got mine from Brookes Barn, seems to work well and was around £40.
