CB500F Forks
« on: August 23, 2015, 11:01:53 PM »
Hi Guys
When I bought my (now restored) CB750K2 in 2012, the forks I got with the bike turned out to be what I have worked out to be from a CB500/CB450 - I sussed this out from CSML schematics based on them having a rod down the middle that screwed into the stantion cap and having no caliper mounting lugs on the RH fork leg .
As I'm going to move them on to fund buying a set of K2 forks for my café racer project, I need to know for sure what bike there off?
Is there a CB500Four model code on the fork lowers that would identify them?
Thanks
Phil

Not really mate, you have a threaded rod down the inside if you unscrew this from the cap will the alloy slider come off the end without undoing the allen bolt in the bottom. If so they are early 500 K0and some K1, but not UK models. Put up some pics and tell me how much, forks are always usefull and i do have several to build. Or mail me direct to blj@blj.org.uk

Forks come completely apart when I remove top nut from the rod - without undoing allen bolt from bottom of forks
See pics (black area is where I de-rusted, filled with metal putty an resprayed in area under fork ears)

Phil, I have a 500/4 K2 and they are exactly the same as mine, you will still need to undo the hex headed cap screw in the base of the fork leg to release the damper and rod but the chrome stanchion will simply slide off when the top nut is undone. Cheers Ian

PS good to see someone local
