CB750 K7 Brake calipers
« on: August 25, 2015, 12:11:45 PM »
Hi, I have acquired a K7 which has been fitted with a double disc set up, unfortunately both are seized & as yet, not been able to get the pistons out!!!!

My question is (& not found on the forum anywhere), could I retro fit calipers easily from another model? (even a double piston unit....)

cheers

Short answer is NO, certainly anything is possible, but can involve a lot of expense, and insurance companies don't like non standard brakes, and quotes will reflect that fact. The K7 calipers are the same as the 750F1 and the U.S. market 750 auto and K8. There are various threads on here about freeing seized pistons, much more of a problem are broken bleed nipples, if the pistons are stuck, it's odds on the nipples will be seized too, and most probably will snap when you try to undo them. New replica caliper bodies are available from D.S.S. and often cheaper than paying an engineering firm to sort the old ones.
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!
