52141-369-000 Swing arm rear centre collar

Hi all,

I appear to be missing this part from my build. which could explain a slightly snatchy back wheel before the rebuild. I bought some of the brass replacements from germany but realised this part was missing!

I'm going round all the usual places to find a replacement of this part, however - if anyone has this item, could they be kind enough to post a few pictures and dimensions so that I may fabricate this part if I cannot source it?

If that was missing there would be so much play on the back wheel it would have been unridable never mind snatchy!! What bike is it for?

Yes, rather vital - and "scratchy" doesn't describe one missing.
Have a look in the swingarm, you'll probably find it in there stuck hard to the pivot bushings. This is not unusual: the bushings, left unlubricated, corrode onto the collar and then the swingarm pivots (poorly) on the bolt.
The collar is NLA, and no aftermarket suppliers are known to me. This part is used on 360 twins, some other twins, the 350 Four, and the 400F. Possibly others. "366" is the CB360 model code.

The one on my 750 had a small grove worn into it from lack of maintenance and made the bike wonder all over the road.
Worth greasing every couple thousand miles.

Hmm, Strange. When I said it was slightly snatchy it was an understatement  :P I can't find this part in my frame bits box and I really don't recall removing it when I took the swing arm out and cut the collars out - although the pivot bolt was very tight. Maybe I'm wrong - my memory isn't terribly accurate!

Either way I'll need to replace it so if anyone could measure theirs I'd be awfully grateful!

I am a little apprehensive of buying one as I have the stock I need and the tools to make things like this. but it might be the only option

The original wouldn't have been stainless, as the one in the link I posted was, but I'm sure this one would do the job.
What would the original have been made of?

I think I may look into buying the version you linked Chris400. It might not be the original material but if it's any good I can knock up a drawing for anyone interested and it can then be made from whatever material anyone likes  :D

Hello,

Sorry to revive this thread, I was hoping for some advice...

I have received all the parts now, I bought some bronze/brass bushes, and the St/Stl pivot tube that chris400 posted. Good items and fit nicely together.

My frame inside measurement is about 205mm by tape, the bush to bush (fitted) measurement is 202mm as is the pivot tube. The end caps are 2mm thick. With all this assembled it doesn't fit into the frame. I plan to take .5mm off of each end cap to give the required dimension there-about. but before I do so... Am I missing something here?

It might be worth trying it again but this time loosen the rearmost lower engine mounting bolt. Some guys on here have had concerns about a gap between the engine and frame, but when the bolts are tightened it pulls the frame in tight. So there is every chance that your frame will spring out by a couple of mm if you loosen the engine bolt. If it does, put the swinging arm in, and the pivot bolt. THEN tighten up the engine bolt. Got to be worth a try rather than cutting/filiing parts down that should fit, after all, wear would result in a sloppy fit, not a tight fit like you currently have. Let us know how you get on.

Problem is that I haven't actually fitted anything to the frame yet. so the frame isn't under any sort of tension unless it's bent or something

Has it been powder coated by any chance, as obviously powder coating tends to be thicker than the original paint and could easily reduce the clearance by half a mm each side. Another thing worth trying would be to put the end caps on the swinging arm, and tap them sharply with a wooden mallet, they may well seat a bit further down.
