Refurbished speedo

Hi.
My recently refurbished speedo suddenly developed an area of condensation on the inside of glass /perspex while out riding. By the time I had got home it had evaporated away but the needle had at certain speeds begun to bounce a little. Does the damper contain a fluid which would have caused this had it leaked?

The damper has oil, so would not cause condensation. I had a clock like this once, had a small bit of moisture and at night with the lights on, the bulb would cause the water to heat and create condensation. cured it by taking out the bulb holders and heated it with a hairdryer.

I had the same problem that had never happened previously - wasn't even damp. I cured it the same way as Trig did - has not come back to date.

Damper has silicone oil so not the source of the condensation. You see the oil on some gauge faces, when the gauge has been incorrectly stored for a period, face down
+1 on the hairdryer/heat gun.

My 750 speedo is off to Peter soon as its lost its damping oil and is all over the place. The oil must have gone into the speedo case when it leaked out and I have no condensation problems, so it cant be that.

Whilst on the subject of 'our Peter' I just want to publically say a big thanks to him for the brilliant work he did on my 2x 400F + 1x Fizzy gauges restorations. Yes I've had a go & done an ok job previously, but couldn't zinc plate the bases  / paint the bodies such as Peter does. As for tackling the Fizzy crimp ring... I hadn't the proverbial hope in hell.

He did some other non-gauge work for me, which I'll not advertise as think it was more a one-off; again fantastic, thanks Peter.

Thought I'd bring this thread back again.Was out yesterday and both clocks were misting up. Sorry for my ignorance but are the speedo and tacho drives from the engine /gearbox? If so is it possible it's condensation travelling up the cables?

rushes to check pile of old clocks to see which way most are facing !!

The clocks have been back on the bike for over a year now and don't mist up until I have done a few miles.
