Update on the build
« on: November 02, 2015, 09:02:34 PM »
It's been awhile in coming, but things are moving at a pace now.  Here's a few pics of where I'm at.  I've had a custom exhaust built, battery box relocated under the swingarm - mounted to the frame, speedo mounts and some bits added in, headlight and indicator mounts made up, the list goes on.

Looking good, seems to have a lot of joins in the exhaust  ::)

To me there seems to be a lot of corrosion under the paint on the engine cradle. The pic showing the close up of the exhaust shows this area quite well and that would worry me a little TBH. Was the frame sand blasted etc before being painted and is it paint or powder coated. Seems a shame to have such a nice finish on the rest of the bike and not fix the way the frame looks under there.
The frame hasn't been touched yet - will be sand blasting then powder coating once the wiring is done.  Definitely still a bit of work to go!

Well that's an unusual way to do a project. Most people do the frame first and then the rest is added as it's finished. However I suppose if your making stuff to fit it would make sense to do the frame last as you may need to alter it for certain parts to fit.
That was precisely the idea.  Since I'm changing a bunch of things I needed to wait to be sure I won't have to drill, grind or weld once the powder is on.

looking good, and loving that exhaust! i built up my project first to see where everything goes, but its essential to do a dry build with any custom bike as very little lines up as it should. keep it going - ready for the spring?

Better be!  I've been instructed by the missus that it needs to be done by Feb as we've got a little one on the way and she wants me out of the shed.

You planning on keeping the kids in the shed?  Now there's an idea...

What little one....a Honda 50cc?

Only joking.....many congratulations.

I mentioned to my 13 year old Grandson that my Neighbour has an immaculate 600 Norton Cafe racer that he plans on leaving to his Grandson..........his ears pricked up at this until I told him he's getting 'ferk all' off me when I pop my clogs as he's a lil' git! LOL.
