Phil Read Replica
« on: November 04, 2015, 08:12:15 PM »
After owning my Phil Read Replica for 16 years, I am  going to reluctantly put it up for sale.
Every part of this bike has been  stripped and  rebuilt, frame and swinging arm powder coated, new  drive chain and sprockets (530 x ring conversion) brand new Hagon shocks, New boyer branson ignition and coils. On the engine alone over  £5500 in parts and workshop fees (re bore valve job etc)
The Engine has had the following
Complete strip, soda blast and stove enamel with original satin black,
Every bearing in the engine replaced  including big end, and main bearings, new oversize pistons/rings.  New valves and bronze guides, valve seats. genuine Honda seals, All gaskets and seal genuine Honda (yes I found genuine Honda head gaskets) New camshaft, and new (hard to come by) cam holders. The Camchain is a new heavy duty one much stronger than stock, plus all rollers and adjusters new. Crankshaft all deep cleaned and checked (work done by SEP engineering)
New heavy duty primary chains (£270.00 just for these) and tensioner  that will no doubt last the life of the bike. All clutch plates and springs are new.  The engine bolts all replaced with stainless steel, as are the engine mounting bolts. The exhaust down pipes are original, and immaculate been re chromed. The Phil read silencer is in perfect condition (and sounds superb). Oil pump fully overhauled and checked, replacement seals and new oil stopper valve (no more oil draining into the crankcase overnight) The bike does not use any oil, and performs superbly. The work done and parts used for this is virtually endless.  The carbs have been ultra-sonic cleaned, and new Carb intake boots used (with stainless clips. I know every nut and bolt of this bike and also know it is a gem, reliable and a valuable classic as only 150 made.
I will be advertising it soon, so if anyone is interested please contact me. I will post some pictures of it on here, you will see it is excellent condition/paint job

I'm not normally a fan of the PRR but you have done an amazing job with that bike. Good luck with the sale. James

I can vouch for the condition of that bike, seen (and heard!) it many times, it's superb, if only I had a bit of spare cash at present, can't believe your selling it but good luck with the sale.
