Switch Gear refurb help
« on: November 21, 2015, 04:38:56 PM »
I was going to replace the switch gear on the 350 because all of the buttons/switches didn't move.
We were quiet in the workshop today so thought I'd take them into work with me and see if I could revive them. After I removed half a dessert I could see what I was up against.

Horn and starter button now working but can I get replacement contact blocks for the indicators and headlamp switches? The indicator one is very worn and the headlamp one is broken.
Also can you get a replacement kill switch button?

Separate buttons are unavailable,  your best course of action is to cannibalise another switch.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

I don't know how common the switch internals are between models.
I have a damaged LH switch from a 400 which you may be able to plunder for indicator switch parts.
Yours for the price of postage if you want to give it a try.

That might be handy. Have you got a pic to see if it's similar?

Thanks Chris but unfortunately they're completely different. Looks like I might go aftermarket or keep an eye out on eBay.

No problem, it was worth a shot.
Did any other bikes of a similar vintage use the same switch gear?

I don't know to be honest. The problem is most stuff of the same age will most likely have inners just as worn.
It's the nipple on the plastic block that is the problem. It's so worn that it doesn't move to its full position. The only other possible option is to drill it and replace with some sort of metal pin.
