Dunno what DS charges .. ask James May  ;D but not that much I don't think. I would have at least  wanted the front disc skimming and standard exhaust for half of that money. Plus it says 'Starting price "

This is the exhaust fitted :-

... which on the web page states "For racing purpose only and not for highway use (approx. 96dB)".
So is the bike being sold to be ridden?

It looks restored to a very high standard.   First thing I would do if I bought it is replace the exhaust and that awful rear light.  It's not a US spec light,  probably a Japanese home market spec,  the indicators are correct though.
I think DS was selling them for around 9K.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

Good thing is that they now do CB400F parts as well as 750. Sadly not the CB500F but I investigated and the primary chain and damper rubbers are the same for 500F as 400/4 so buying from them and getting shipped for me privately  as they are well cheap from Yamiya. Need to check the Germans fist though.

Probably made out of pattern parts too.
The last one I looked at when i was there had the crappy chinese rims and pattern seat.

Its not a 400/4 without those sexy headers

I'll second that, it's the headers that make the bike for me.

As far as DS bikes go, with each bike listed for sale on their web site there is a PDF Data Sheet that lists the work done to the bike.
The number of parts listed as 'Repro' for some of the bikes makes you wonder what original bits can be left.

I agree with comments on the DS bikes .. reckon the Yamiya one will be something else though if its to the same standards as their 750K0's they restore. I till can't fathom why Yamiya can't get the original double-skinned header pipes/collector made like OEM though. Think Sankei were the last Japanee firm to supply Honda with them.
