Intro & looking for my old CB750's
« on: December 21, 2015, 11:39:30 AM »
Hi guys my name is Paul.. i live near Ipswich in Suffolk, and i'm trying to find a couple of CB750's i used to own many many years ago.. lol as many others are i'd imagine, but i thought i'd try asking around... you never know.!

The first is a CB750 F2 ..Reg number VPV 550S.. it was in the original maroon at the time i sold it.. though it did have some light fin damage on the right side of the barrels when i fell off being an idiot.!

The second is a CB750 F1 ..Reg number NKJ 321P.. it was in the original yellow when sold.. and i'd done a twin disc conversion on it at the time.

I have looked on the DVLA website but they've not been taxed since 1991 and 1987 which isnt good.... saying that they might be tucked up cosy in the back of some ones garage....   fingers crossed..!

Anyway.. if anyone has any info ..leads.. or anything that can point me towards my old bikes, it'd be good to hear from you.

Cheers.. Paul

Hi Paul.

I guess you don't own any bikes at the moment?

My mother-in-law lives in Lower Ufford and i'm up there quite a lot - but never seen any old bikes...

Pity DVLA will not even pass on details to  current owners, to aid tracing our own bikes.

Strangely enough they did used to do this. Many years ago if you sent a fiver and an accompanying letter, the DVLA used forward your letter onto the current owner. I actually traced my FZ750 a few years back and talked with the owner. However a couple of years later i tried the same thing and they denied the service ever existed..!  Good ol' DVLA eh..!!

You can still do the fiver V888 form (just did it for my 400/4) but you have to be the current registered keeper.

Fixed a problem with nested quotes (I don't normally edit others' posts (honest...))

I never used any form and i wasn't the current registered keeper, I just included a letter to the DVLA plus a sealed letter in an envelope to the 'current' owner which they then forward onto them. The DVLA told me that they could do this for me, but also bear in mind that i had sold the FZ maybe 10 years previous.

They either cocked up or ended the service shortly after, because when i enquired again they denied that service was available, even though I still have the emails from the owner they sent my letter to, and he confirmed that the DVLA sent him that letter lol.!!

Wow that was good ... they wouldn't do that these days which is a real shame, I can't see what harm it would do, unless I suppose the PO is deceased (probably the excuse that DVLA will use)
