CB550K3 Tank Badges

How are the tank badges attached on a 550K3, is there a trick to safely removing them?
Can scratches be polished out or is the gold colour just on the surface? Are replacements available anywhere?

Totty,
               The badges on my K3 are just a push fit into two plastic retainers.

Slide some fishing line or a plastic spatula between the badge and tank and gently pry them apart.

Any tips on scratch removal?
I suppose I can file a bit off the back to test once I've removed them.

If there the brass badges you should be able to re buff them.
