What do you think about Kawasaki s2350 triple?
« on: January 26, 2016, 08:26:45 AM »
Hello there, I am thinking about sell my CB550K3(when I repair it) and buy a Kawa triple 350, but really I am not sure :-\ :-\. I normally not use the bikes( I have a 400 Four and Vespa T5), 1 or 2 times for Month and short rides.
I know that are "very fast" but I do not know about of maitenance and other problems with these models ::)

Is a good option?

Thank you and sorry for my English.

I have always wanted one of these, however they are rarely available in the UK. When I last checked, I was told by a well - known restorer that spares were even harder to find than the bike itself, quite frequently resulting in the need to buy a "rolling wreck" (if you can find one) to obtain a single hard to find item such as a rear mudguard.

I have also been completely unsuccessful in finding anyone who is set up to supply spare parts, so it would probably be a trawl around autojumbles were any needed.

Perhaps the situation is better in Spain?

Spain is a💩💩💩 about Vintage Japan Bikes(sorry for emoticons) I think, that model sold in France and not import to UK. The bike is in very good shape, and only turn on and ride. I do not know if the cosmetic parts are compatible with s1 250 model. I do not want a "museum" bike, only any to ride and enjoy. I think that is a bike with more "money value" that a 550 K3, isn't?
Regards.

They have to be regularly ridden or the crank seals go and the have a VERY heavy thirst for petrol

Thank you Bryanj for your answer, thirst "is not a problem" because  I will only use it for short rides , about 100miles 1 or 2 times to the month.
I have not know about the problems with the seals😳, The maitenance is easier than Honda Fours??

Don't know about the 350 but from my H1 and H2 friends from the Z Club I learned,  that they have to overhaul the engine every  3 - 4 tkm.

According to them those engines are poorly designed and suffer from production differences. Have you ever seen a high mileage mach?

And this is the only reason why I don't have one.

Maybe the small ones are "better" because the don't suffer from crankcase torsion due to high tork.
Best advice is the KH400.

Kh 250. For me the best sounding bike ever. Late ones not particularly fast hence my preference for yamaha RDs.

Thank you mates, I only could a "swap" between my 550 K3 and the Kawa S2A 350( a leader ask me about "swap bikes")the two bikes are in  the "same/similar"condition about shape. Really 550 K3 is a good bike but " not break my heart"😄 as my 400 Four, is for that reason that I am thinking about looking for other bike....is only a option but I am ask for advice.
Sorry for my English😅
Best Regards.

I think those 350s are really nice and would pick one over a 550 anytime.
As Bryan says if not used for long periods you may run into crank seal problems but I ran a 1976 Kh250 to 30,000 miles without changing any components so don't believe reliability is any issue for these triples.
They sound absolutely gorgeous as well and if you make sure the steering head and swing arm bearings are in the best condition they handle really well.
I'd love to own one.
