CB550F Mudguard flaps
« on: January 30, 2016, 12:53:22 PM »
Hello everyone,

Looking for some info on these curious rubber mudflaps which were fitted to the ends of the chrome mudguards on my 78 CB550F.
Haven't seen them on another model?

One is made in Japan, the other Italy.
Were they an optional extra? Aftermarket? They have "HM" ( Honda Motorcycles?) on the logo.

Cheers Neil

They were on models for Germany, Holland and some other European countries only. They are a bit ugly and that's why many took them of

I know back in the late 70's a lot of people (including me) fitted aftermarket front (and rear) mudflaps.
They are still available in various forms.
This one looks pretty much like the one on the left of your photo.

Really? Many of us thought they spoiled the elegancy of the bike and took them of. Moreover at high speeds you don't want such a 'spoiler' in the rear that affects handling.
