DS Pipes now in stock
« on: February 23, 2016, 01:51:06 PM »
David Silver now has the repro pipes in stock (HM374 replicas) that they tell me have been checked at the factory and then QC checked over here, so I ordered a set.

Quite a few sets left but they are unsure when the next batch will come in.

Will post pics when I get them.

Cheers ... Ash

They are basically the superseded part Steve. All of the final production Honda ones were HM374's not 323's. From what Bryan tells me they are the same as 323's but with the emissions stamping on them.

Which might ease registration & MOT over here...
Thanx for the info, looking forward to the pics

374(Physically exactly the same shape and fitting as 323) is 550 K0, K1 and K2 which were mostly US bikes and the yanks, being who they are had lots of "Blurb" rolled into the back of the silencers so you can only see it before fitting or sometimes through the wheel stating that changing the standard exhaust system consisted of High Treason or some such and you could get 20yrs in Sing Sing for upsetting the authorities!

Whether the repros have this crap verbiage on them i don't know but I'm sure Ash will tell us when he gets his set

OK, I have only one source. In a test the German motormagazin 'Das Motorrad' (13-1976) mentions that Honda had increased the thickness of the exhausts from 0,8 to 1,0 mm. The problem is that in the picture we see both the 1976 built CB500K2 and the CB750K6. The test was a socalled doubletest.
Some 60.000 kms ago I have renewed my old original 4-4 exhausts on my 1976 built 500K2. I did a very good deal then, btw. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=119831.msg1356926#msg1356926
Here's my question: I remember that where my present exhausts have the number 323 on them, the original ones had a different number and I'm almost certain it was 374. This would make sense because the same type exhausts were on the 1976 550K2. Not much chance but could any of you that has still the original 4-4 exhausts on his 1976 CB500K2, a model not exported to the UK btw, have a look what number is on the mufflers?
If new reproduced original exhausts are offered, what model are they a copy of: the old 0,8 mm thick ones or the later 1,0 mm ones? Or were they as far as the CB500 all the same and was it only the CB750K6 mufflers that went from 0,8 to 1,0 mm thickness.
