CB550K3 Rear brake plate
« on: February 23, 2016, 09:03:41 PM »
I'm looking for the correct rear brake plate for my '77 550k3. Will a brake plate from a 550f be the same fitment? The part number on it is 4300 374 000

If not can anyone provide me with a picture of the type I'm looking for and maybe a correct part number?

Thanks
Mike

There are 4 on ebay that look correct, item number 222016753193 is one of them.

Very difficult to tell visually, if you use the hub and brake plate from the same bike it will fit

I have yet to spot the difference visually but some rear brake plates lock the wheel once tightened if you get a miss match. K3 is I think the odd type over cb500 and 550f, but I am not sure. I think the difference is the spacers built in, wrong combo and the back plate can get too close and no longer turns. You might be able to relieve this with some extra washers ( I had same issue on my rebel - that fixed it on that. ) on the cb550k3 I ran I abused the 'wrong' back plate with a grindstone til it fitted but that was a very abused cheap old hack, these days these bikes have become a bit more precious.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

The k3 one has a totally different external appearance to most others, or at least I believed that before reading this. When I bought one based solely on appearance it fitted, maybe that was just luck?

Totty, post a photo of yours up. Might shed some light on things, for my part my 550k3 was a fair number of years ago for either bike being complete, and one of my k3s had constars.

I probably wouldn't be able to get a pic until Sunday, but I've had another look at the ones on ebay and this one 121901448948 looks the same as mine but they say it came off an f.
I was of the opinion that all of the ones with that webbing fitted. I have only tried two though so I'm not that confident.
