Tapered steering head bearing install

Right then.  I'm in the process of rebuilding my cb550 and I'm just about ready to install the head bearings.  I have a set of bearing from All bearings and they come with 2 different thickness spacers.  I've read so many post of what thickness to use and where to install the spaces that I'm still none the wiser.  Unfortunately I don't have the old races that I can measure and compare.  Is there another way of measuring this prior to fitting to make sure I use the correct spacer?

The last thing I want to do is fit one spacer then find out its the incorrect one and have to take it off!!

I just went through the exact same process.  I read a bunch of posts and the consensus was to use the thin washer, so that's what I did and it fit perfectly.  Hope yours works out as well!

Did you use the thin washer underneath the bearing on the tripple tree or inside the headset?

And the washer keeps some of the shite out of the bearing.

So would I be correct in saying the washer goes on first, then the dust seal, then the bearing?

All done now.  Thanks for your help.

Only thing that I may need to do is use a slightly thinner washer under the top yoke nut as there does not seem to be much thread there!
