CB750 F1 Rear Wheel Bearings
« on: February 28, 2016, 05:22:23 PM »
Just started to prep the rear hub removing all the grime and oxidisation.

Before I start on removing the bearings thought i should source some new ones.
Hunters motorcycles can provide:all 3 bearings (2 wheel 1 sprocket carrier) £20.00p Delivered, but not a complete kit
Good price and they are usually good quality

If this includes dust seals, I should be able to reuse the retaining ring? or DS may stock one

Will I need some other parts? O Ring ???

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

Keith Snr

I would get a new retaining ring, just in case. It may have been in place 40 years, and could be a real pig to get out. On the other hand, it may come out undamaged, but better to have a spare in case you end up breaking it up to get it out, at least you can finish the job that way! And if you don't need it, you can always keep it as a spare or sell it on. Don't forget to drill out the staking before attempting to remove the old one, and good luck with it.

They are just randomly staked, no set positions, plus if it's been done before chances are they will have more than one set of staking.
