X ring chain on a CB500?
« on: March 19, 2016, 06:11:44 PM »
Hi all,

I've read lots of advice on chains, size, pitch, length, etc. but I've just bought a DID chain and sprocket kit from WEMOTO and wondered if anyone has used this particular one.

It's the DID 530 VX X-ring.

I've read about case rubbings and clearance issues. Is this chain a no go or is it OK?

Thanks, Alan

What is wrong with a STD D.I.D chain ?
The problem with all these 0'ring chains is, they are wider than the STD fitting and if they go a little slack will cut in to anything in its way. This is more of a problem with the 500 as the clutch push rod is very close to the chain, even on a STD chain.

Ran one on my 500, no issues, done a fair few miles, think it is still on there but with a 550 engine, but been stood for a fair while though.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock
