Thought I would enquire on the off chance that someone has spare.

Ideally painted in great condition  :)

Original colour preferred.

Alternatively, any recommendations on reasonable priced painter for repair and paint tank and cowl to good standard.

Thanks

Martin

CB750 / 530 chain on late CB750F1/K7/F2 output shaft
« on: June 03, 2023, 12:03:57 PM »
Hi Guys
Hope someone has come across this before.

My 1978 F1 has the gearbox output shaft with end bolt to retain sprocket rather than the locking plate and 2 bolts.

I know the K7/K8 and F2 had an increased size 630 chain which was heavy and overkill.

I have fitted a 530 chain, but the standard 530 sprocket is 12.7 wide and leaves a gap on end of shaft.

Im look for a 17t 530 sprocket that is 10.7 wide.

Spoke to DS and they can only supply a standard  K7/F2 630 sprocket

Has any one encountered this and know of a supplier?

Thanks

Martin

I see DS are doing the repro K7 pipes, not sure if they are from Busso?

Maybe DS will do a repro silencer to fit the OE pipes, assume unit cost will come down on shipping in bulk.

I did buy a NOS collector from CMSNL but was about £750, I have one of the seperate pipes, a NOS large clamp  and one pipe to get .

Probably be afraid to fit them  :)

CB750 / CB750F1 Silencer

As the weather improves motivated to get bikes sorted. :)

My original 4 into 1 Silencer is showing signs of deterioration and thinking again if replacements available.

I see Busso in Italy show one but image doesnt show mounting.

Does anyone have any experience of them of could recommend an alternative?

I have see the posts on K models but could not see anything for F1.

The F1 presents extra problems due to rear storage box creating a larger hinged section.

Im thinking of going to Spain this year on my F1 and have not had any luck finding a rear carrier rack.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Another electrical problem as not charging >:(

I had fitted a solid state regulator/rectifier so suspected that,

One of the quick checks is to see if the field winding screws on outside of alternator case are magnetised with ignition on, meaning power is going to field winding.

If the battery is at higher voltage or too low may not work as regulator not calling for charge.

You can use a metal screw or bolt on the screw heads.

In my case not magnetised.

Swapped  new solid state reg/rect for a spare original, but same problem.

Suspected field winding, but resistance within spec between white and green tested at sub loom.

Mmmm maybe the old regulator is faulty, so tried another spare, but same problem.

Checked continuity on sub loom and earth and switched power to regulator.

I had disconnected sub loom that connects main loom to alternator and this was also new.

Checking the orientation of wires and noticed that the White wires did not line up !!

I have the old loom and the new loom from DS had white wire opposite to original.

Removed the White wire after depressing tang that holds in block and refitted in correct position and connected everything.

Now the field windings are magnetised  :)

Hope this helps other with problems with repro parts.

Interchangeability / Re: Keihin Main Jets
« on: May 07, 2021, 12:49:07 PM »
One of the key things on the PD is to remove/replace/clean  the pilot/slow jets and passages which tend to get blocked.

Also, make sure all accelerator jets squirting well and dont try to increase mixture too much with mains and needle.

Mine had 125 mains and 1.2mm  of washers under needle and pulled very poorly and hesitated.

Changed to 110 mains and 1 x 0.4mm washer under needle and runs great  :)

Handy link, thanks.Do any of the Keihin carbs fitted to CB SOHC/4's use screw in jets 🤔

Yes the main jets on CB750F1 and CB750K8 PD carb do for certain.

The PD carb slow/idle are push in.

I managed to clear obstruction without removing by using carb cleaner and compressed air.

Changed main jets  to 110 from 125 and one 0.4mm washer under needle clip.

Now runs fine  :)
