Misc / Open / Who can you trust
« on: March 08, 2015, 10:28:35 PM »
My next door neighbour Grand son came round to see me yesterday with his Scooter (twist and Go) He said he had had trouble with the throttle and took it to a bike repairer and what a scary story he told me. He took it in to have a new throttle cable fitted and they charged him £200 for the job. This lad is 17 and just started work so £200 was quite an amount to find. Well he collected his bike and on his way home he came up to a T junction and it would not shut down so he panicked and dropped the bike. Lucky he was not hurt. He took the bike back and asked them to get it sorted and once again he collected it. Once again the throttle stuck wide open and again her came off. He asked me to have a look at it and what I found was disturbing. The cable was not fitted correctly and was jamming the butterfly. It took me 10 mins to correct the fault and get it running correctly. This is why I have decided to set up a motor cycle workshop for young riders. It makes me so angry that people still rip off these lads and put there lives in danger. Iam now 57 years old and have been lucky with bike riding. The roads are bad enough without bad workmanship.

CB750 / Connecting rods
« on: February 11, 2015, 10:07:22 PM »
Hi every one
Well I think I have all the parts I need to rebuild the engine I will be using for teaching others how to strip and re assy an engine in my new venture. Some of you may know what I am about to do that is to teach some younger bikers around my area how to maintain there bikes. This I will be doing FOC and I feel its time I gave something back to others. Now I have a question. Which way round do the connecting rods go in the engine I cannot find it in the workshop manual. Do they go with the rod weight forward or the journal size forward. a BIG thanks to Ash for sending me the only part I was missing.

« on: January 28, 2015, 03:59:05 PM »
Hi all

I have found a alternator cover in some old cb750 parts that I have not seen before. This cover has fins on it and in the middle were the Honda name usually sits it has SOHC inside it says made in japan. It looks like a custom made part. Any ideas?

CB750 / In trouble
« on: February 01, 2014, 09:13:51 PM »
Hi everyone

Well have just started checking my 1975 750K2 over for the spring and shocked to find the top steering yoke has a crack in it near the fork mounting bolt. This may have happened when my mate tailed ended me in the summer time. Have looked on ebay but nothing. Anyone have a spare one kicking about. I know some people are a little weary about sending parts to strangers but you wont have any problems as I will pay before delivery

Misc / Open / Zinc Plating kits
« on: November 23, 2013, 06:46:35 PM »
I said I would let you all know how the Zinc plating kit worked. Well to my surprise it worked better than I thought it would. Have done most of the nuts / bolts on my bike and the finish is amazing. The kit came complete with everything needed the only thing extra was the heater and air pump. The company I used was Gateros plating www.gaterosplating.co.uk

Hi every one

Well it will soon
be time to strip my F2 for a rebuild. Just wondered if anyone has used those home Zinc plating kits before and what results did you get. My bike has never been stripped before so all the original fixings are there.

CB750 / Exhust down pipes
« on: September 21, 2013, 10:24:54 AM »
Well have found a complete standard exhaust system for my F2. The front down pipes are a little worn so going to have a go at making some out of Stainless pipe. My friend has a mandrel bender so half way there. Will let you know the results. Also now winter will soon be here will let you know about what stainless steel parts I am making the list is getting longer each day. Only last night I made a new set of exhaust fixing cones in stainless tube with the flare on the end.

CB750 / stainless parts
« on: August 24, 2013, 11:42:30 PM »
Hi every one

Well have been busy working on my new project. My 750F2 super sports, As I have been off work for a couple of weeks I have decided to experiment with making some stainless parts for the bike. The front indicator stalks are loosing there shine so have machined some new ones out of S/S. They have come out quite good and when polished look just like the originals. Have also made new wheel spacers out of S/S also the most tricky bit was making the small spacers for the head light rim screws. Once I get sorted out with my illness if any one would like some parts making just let me know.
