Humour / Our American buddies?
« on: June 29, 2013, 11:20:28 PM »
Old man sitting on his front porch in Louisiana watching the sunrise
sees
the neighbour's kid walk by carrying something big under his arm.
He yells out, "Hey boy, whatcha got there?"
The boy yells back, "Roll of chicken wire."
The old man says, "What you gonna do with that?"
The boy says, "Catch some chickens."
The old man yells, "You damn fool, you can't catch chickens with
chicken
wire!"
The boy just laughs and keeps walking.
That evening at sunset the boy comes walking by and to the old man's
surprise, he is dragging behind him the chicken wire with about 30
chickens
caught in it.
At the same time the next morning, the old man is out watching the
sunrise
and he sees the boy walk by carrying something kind of round in his
hand.
The old man yells out, "Hey boy, whatcha got there?"
The boy yells back, "Roll of duck tape."
The old man says, "What you gonna! do with that?"
The boy says back, "Catch me some ducks."
The old man yells back, "You damn fool, you can't catch ducks with
duck
tape!"
The boy just laughs and keeps walking.
That night, around sunset, the boy walks by coming home and to the
old man's
amazement, he is trailing behind him the unrolled roll of duck tape with
about 35 ducks caught in it.
At the same time the next morning, the old man sees the boy walking
by
carrying what looks like a long reed with something fuzzy on the end.
The old man says, "Hey boy, whatcha got there?"
The boy says, "It's a pussy willow."
The old man says "Hold on, I'll get my hat."

Humour / Good publicity?
« on: June 29, 2013, 11:18:29 PM »
A particularly large and hairy arsed Biker was roaring through town on
his immense Harleyon a sunny afternoon, when he saw an aged Nun
trying to cross the road before him.
Each time she tried to cross, yet another car sped by making her jump
back to the safety of the pavement. In the blink of an eye the Biker
screeched to a halt, parked his Hog and then walked to the middle of
the road whereupon he raised his huge hands to stop the traffic both
ways, so the old woman could cross.
As she reached the middle of the road he grabbed her arm and carefully
led her to the safety of the pavement.
"Young man" the Nun said "You have revived my faith in human nature"
The biker looked down at her and smiled kindly and said "its okay love,
any friend of Batman is a friend of mine!"

CB650 / Can I get rid of air assistance on forks???
« on: September 07, 2012, 05:47:51 PM »
Any of you guys converted air assisted forks to conventional? Reason I'm asking is my good lady has a 650 shitehawk (sorry, Nighthawk :-[) and she has to stand on tip toe when stationary, so I want to drop the front forks in the yokes about an inch, but because the link pipe for the air assistance runs under the fuse cover, it doesn't look possible unless I can get rid of the air set up. Any ideas?????

CB750 / Scumbags in Hastings
« on: July 19, 2012, 09:44:18 AM »
Went to visit my mum in Hastings last weekend, took my 750 F1, and it performed superbly on the way down (250 miles from where I live in Devon). Anyway, went to visit an old mate while I was there, and when I came back to the bike, some Bas***d had stolen my front caliper >:( Local police just gave me a crime number on the phone, they couldn't spare anyone to come and see me :o. My insurance company was the biggest shock, they didn't want to know, as 1, the bike itself wasn't stolen, 2, the small print on the policy states that the theft cover does not apply between 10p.m. and 6 a.m. if the bike is not locked in a garage :'(. Luckily I'm a member of the AA, and they ferried the bike and me back to Devon :). Managed to find a used caliper on E-Bay, paid £53 for it, knowing the bleed nipple was sheared. It arrived yesterday, what the seller failed to mention was the fact he had tried to get the nipple out, and had snapped an easy out screw extractor in it :'( So, anyone got any ideas on how to remove it, it's broken flush with the top of the nipple so I can't try using a punch to tap it round, and it's too hard to drill it out. I have found a seller on E-Bay in germany who has a few NOS calipers, but at 380 euros each (about £330) plus postage, I can't afford to justify spending that sort of cash at the moment

Misc / Open / Air Ambulance
« on: March 10, 2012, 10:55:51 AM »
Hi everyone, it has been brought to my attention that the Air Ambulance service (Financed entirely by charitable donations) is still having to pay V.A.T. on the fuel they buy >:( This is so clearly wrong, after all, the R.N.L.I. are exempt from V.A.T. on fuel (Also charity financed) There is currently an e-petition to get the same for air ambulances, PLEASE sign it, as there is always a very real risk WE may need it's services one day, you can sign it here    http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/29349  As I said previously, you never know when you may need it :o

CB750 / CB750 F1 front caliper
« on: February 23, 2012, 10:52:01 AM »
I know these are almost impossible to source now :(, I draw the line at paying nearly £370 for one from Germany! >:( Is it possible to use the caliper swinging arm from a 400/4, 500/4 or 550/4, and then use a pattern 400/4 caliper from DSS with the standard disc? I suppose it could be possible, but I don't want to spend out on parts if it wont fit :'( Bryan J, your immense knowledge is needed! ;)

CB650 / 550 onto 650???
« on: August 29, 2011, 10:21:20 AM »
Hi  there, here's a real poser for you all. Does anybody know if it is possible to fit the iron rotor and charging coils from a CB500/550 four to the engine on a CB650 Nighthawk :P (SOHC) As the main engine castings seem fairly similar, I figure it would be a vast improvement to the charging reliability of my good lady's Nighthawk ;D. Have had no end of problems with the charging on it, whereas I have NEVER had problems with the older types (without brushes) I know there may be some degree of re wiring necessary, just need to know if the rotor will fit the crank, and the outer casing fit the crankcases. Any suggestions/ideas welcome( NOT suggesting putting a match to it, she loves it for some strange reason! ???)

Misc / Open / More E.U. Crap to try and ruin our fun
« on: August 22, 2011, 09:01:15 AM »
I don't know how many of you good people are aware of the latest barrage of anti bike legislation the E.U. morons are trying to batter us with, and although much of it wont affect us (Speed Limiters on new bikes!), a fair amount will, especially a ban on motorcycles over 7 years old from town/ city centres :o (emissions!) and compulsory wearing of full sleeve Dayglo jackets for all riders and pillion passengers :-[ (Mmm, wont that look cool on a  classic Honda?)It's another example of eurocrats trying to destroy our way of life, and if we DO NOTHING, it will be steamrollered through (Like the absurd human rights laws that allowed 2 child molesters to sue the government for the right to be allowed pornography in thier prison cells! >:() I'm not normally militant about things, but the Motorcycle Action Group is organising a mass ride/rolling road block to draw attention to this on September 25th, all I can do is hope as many of you as possible will take part and show how we feel about this. More info will be available on the M.A.G. website, also the Facebook page "The Devon Highwaymen" PLEASE check this out, and take part if you possibly can, this is getting frighteninly close to an outright ban on motorcycling (Which the E.U. would REALLY like) If you want to carry on riding your classic Honda, or indeed ANY older bike, DOING NOTHING IS NOT AN OPTION!

CB750 / Anybody Know of anyone competent at welding fuel tanks???
« on: August 21, 2011, 11:07:41 PM »
Hi there, my 75 750F1 fuel tank gave up the ghost recently and commenced leaking fuel big time, a full tank gone in 3 days! :'( I took it off and found several small holes along the bottom edge near the fuel tap. Sealed these with Petro patch, which seemed to do the job. In the meantime, found another tank on fleabay, hand painted a vile shade of "toilet blue" (only way I can think of describing it!) It duly arrived, so I thought I'd have it sandblasted and painted as it is undented and free of filler, but before I could do this, the original started leaking again, >:( same side as before, but forward of the fuel tap this time, so reluctantly I fitted the toilet blue one. :-[ Guess what, after 3 days that one started leaking from the same area! Getting pi##ed off by now (petrol at
