That's the finish you get with fine grade "Scotchbrite" wheels and a coat of clear lacquer. Just leave it with the rough cut without using the polishing mops. Comes out well, just like original. And takes no time at all. I know what you mean about the bright polish though James, not my thing either. Belongs on old Triumphs etc.

You could have polished the originals for free. Wouldn't have taken very long from a vapour blasted finish. And now your faced with polishing them anyway. That said you got them for a great price, why not move them along and make a nice profit and polish the others.

Thanks for that Ash.

I used MD-Motorradteile for my MIVV exhausts on the 350 that I had a horrible time fitting. Turns out only the silencers were MIVV, the headers were AN Other? If they sell as a MIVV system they should say the headers are from another supplier as they just did not fit. If you look at my 350 thread you can see how much they were altered to get them on.

Am still in contact with them (I think) about the missing silencer end piece. But they now appear to have stopped replying after I threatened to send the silencer back. So don't know where I am with them now, am hoping there not replying whilst they search the stores for an end cap.

Although that sounds like a moan, I don't mean to. I think its admirable that they take the time to put together a 4 into 4 system for a 43 year old bike from some of there stock. And I should have expected some problems with fitment of pattern parts. So all in all I have an exhaust now fitted and looking good with just a bit of extra work. But the silencer end plate is really a game stopper as after several goes at making one they all look crap.

The other recommends should be useful though. Thanks.

Plus one with Hairygit.

Its definitely an F2, alloy footrest hangers that only fit the F2 frame, Comstars, double disks, Awful Awful PD Carbs etc.

The exhaust is a non standard Motad (you wont find a NOS original anywhere, and when UKPete sells his I have first dibs). Motad is a good system though.

Should be a 1977/78 if its an F2 so reg is correct.

The colour is not genuine but is a near match to the standard blue bike.

Not a bad looking bike though, think I would put the standard decals on the tank and clear coat it (if the paint is good enough).

Its also looks like it has a K series seat fitted, should have a tail hump on the F2. Loads of those available on eBay etc but you would have to match the paint.

Here's a comparison picture with mine.

Nice one.

The holes look very similar to the ones I drilled for my cafe seat.

That's a top class looking bike Bodd. You got any more pictures?

Who would you rate as the top parts supply companies then Ash. Not used Pyramid Parts before (hadn't even heard of them). Maybe we should start a thread updating with who is best out there?

Not meant to have holes there. The PO probably drilled them for some reason. Just get them welded up as they are not required.

Novembers edition of Classic Bike has an article about Ethanol in petrol and removing it with the Ethanil kit. There a bit slow, Honda-SOHC has had that one covered for a while now. ;D ;D

That's a top idea Ash we should adopt that. Can't think who would only pay 99p for parts though? lol.

Welcome to the forum Joe. Not Honda (sorry) but will shortly be very interested in one of your Triumph exhausts, they look the business, and handy that we can order direct from the supplier. Will contact you once I get the 350 Honda finished. Cheers Roy.

Thanks Hairy for the kind words.

Will sort it out somehow, just another challenge. By the time it hits the road nobody will be able to spot it.

Am thinking I may mask it off carefully and paint the inner of the silencer with the same High Temperature Matt black and put some same size pop rivets in. Don't think anybody will notice it even if prompted.

But will look first for a metal dish the correct diameter that I can drill out to look correct.

Pain in the arse really but the Sankai's were way worse.

Cheers.
