CB750 / Re: best model info book

;) hi ogre  you just answered your own question, the gold CB750 was never sent to the UK,it is was a USA designated model and other countries ,so it probably was gold originally, the high frame number suggests its a late CB750 model ,and ignore the air box and twin cables  white emblems flat seat(all these are k1 parts BTW )they are easy to swap and probably was over time. ::) the more HONDA CB750 books you have the better  they are all pretty good as they say "knowledge is power"

::) i have opened up a few clocks over the years and a good shot of lube will get things back to normal Honda clocks are pretty stable ,does anybody remember the old British clocks now we are talking "speedo bounce" and" rev counter slap"  ;) yes and you can also have a inner cable that is too short, that it will fall out of the rev counter drive, this has happened to me a few times  :-* as well as the cable being too long and getting tight , i think we need to remember that although this stuff comes from d.silvers and ebay it does not guarantee it is a genuine Honda part, there are still lots of reproduction parts out there especially cables, brakes, clutch, gaskets ,filters infact anything serviceable is and always will be copied by other motorfactors ,so sometimes we can get away with a mix and match, its all part of the fun i think  :-\

i did not know that Eamon has been ill, i knew him from years ago when he bought the the bike off Dave, nobody realised then that the bike was actually the earliest k0 to be registered, i was really surprised that he had sold it, when another forum member said that he now owns the bike,i know he did a lot of research into them old CB750s,he was really hooked on them, he had quite a few of them at the time , ;) twice as many as i had

;) be careful with the chrome side panels ,i had some done a couple of years ago and the chrome reacted with the gold enamel ,really pissed me off  at the time  ::)
early tank cap is made of "monkey metal" i cant recall the proper name they are diecast like the tank badges and will not take to chroming

Re: sandcast or not.
it is a NOT ,what you have a late cb750 k0 (diecast)and they are the easiest to restore you dont need cut mudguards and wrinkle tanks or short chainguards. my k0 frame# 1031568 is not much later than yours and was registered in September 1970 ,it is only the engine cases that are sandcast (rougher diecast finish) and not the barrels and head , although they do look a little rough,i have two more cb750 k0's a lot earlier than yours. frame # in the 1015---'s and a third frame # 1018---,and they are all uk bikes i might add ,and they ain't got sandcast barrels and head either,so enjoy it for what it is a uk registered honda cb750 k0 with uk history,if you would rather a over priced sandcast and sell your body parts to pay for one, i would gladly take it of your hands cost price of course.seriously i just love bikes with some real stories behind them that you can relate too, i only ever saw two honda cb750 k0's when i was sixteen and the guys that had them was real characters and i always "said i will get one of them one day" :-* and here i am now with four.you gotta love bikes lol, " Honda the power of dreams"

@ bob the builder
i dont often give away my secrets but as you are a fellow k0 owner.
right get a very sharp stanley knife or craft knife, take a deep breath and slice away the plastic cover that overlaps the metal base dont get carried away just enough to ease off the plastic cover , if you find it a bit sloppy when you replace the cover apply a bit glue (bostic or araldite) around the rim,i usually spray wd40 on the mechanism when its apart, ive done all my clocks this way (about eight in total) so no worries  :( looks like ashimoto beat me to it

it could well be one of your coils has died (swop coils to check)or one of your set pionts are shorting on them cylinders(swap points feeds blue and yellow wires i think) check your points again that they are not shorting around the carbon washers that could be the problem or even swap condensors
