you should change the battery as a matter of course its a good sign that its chargeing but a battery will only give as much as its got, crap battery means crap electrics .there is a breather pipe above the carbs if there is oil coming from there could be bad news like a worn engine we need more info like is there back pressure coming from engine breather ?

hi ash here you go try this link     http://data.sohc4.net/Clutch_rattle.jpg   if it don't work go to main sohc site (USA)and have a look in the tech section its under clutch , there are lots of other bulletin boards as well so well worth a peek,  ;) knowledge is power
BTW if your barrels look good no broken fins i would fit them don't bother changing liners too much hassle they will be the same except you will have extra stud hole on the front that cant be seen anyway

hi ash it might not be what you are looking for but i got a f2 engine in a k0  8) i have a copy of a bulletin board showing how too put the k7 clutch internals into earlier ko's putting the bigger plate B in the middle and using the heavier k7 clutch basket it was supposed too eliminate clutch rattle, i have used later k series carbs they work great and mixed and matched gears, camshafts ,camshaft housings, gear selectors, rocker arms rocker shafts, but the final drive bearings are bigger on the k7 and don't fit in the  k0 cases, a friend of mine said that if you put Honda 900 pistons in a 750 it take the 736cc up too 810cc and you dont need to bore out the cylinders  ;)

hi bob  ;)
if you can get a good colour match like the inside of the air box i would try and use that as a guide I would say the candy blue green is the hardest colour to match to many coats it goes too green not enough and its too blue I did read somewhere that it takes two and a half coats lol thats how hard they are to match up,i have done two blue bikes one was too blue the other too green,  :'( and one candy ruby red,the one with the red paint being the easiest too match i am thinking of doing a full set of candy gold in the future that should be interesting , they all use the same silver base coat Honda paints are notoriously difficult too match and they used too mix the lacquer with the paint thats why so many colours got bleached out over time like the red bikes from sunny USA  8),i have not tried two pack as yet because cellolose paint is now banned you will have a job too find a sprayer that will use it ,unless you can find a really good sprayer i would say John Wyatt is your best bet i have a spare set of blue parts done by JTS too far for you they are in Devon ,but thats what you need a dedicated bike sprayer who can do candy colours  as Steve said the colour code AZ is of no use unless you are buying all the original parts from Honda lol i wish , good luck with the new bike i saw it on ebay they are picking up some serious money,I'm tempted too unload some of my k0's lol :-\

;) i had this problem years ago ,after quickly rebuilding a k4 engine (to use in my k0 that had camshaft failure)i left out a bearing set ring its a half circlip that locates the gearbox bearings in the engine cases, it could be the same part bryanj mentioned ? it work ok for a while then started jumping out of fifth then no fifth at all ,only four gears lol, (i rode it like this all summer until i fixed my original engine) it only came too light after i dismantled the k4, as spitfire says the job can be done upside down no poblem, you might have too wiggle the cases a bit to split them

« on: August 02, 2009, 09:24:18 PM »
hi try tightening the 10 mm nut the holds the switch too the engine case it might have worked loose ,( if its the same problem i had ) and you shouldn't lose any oil if you have to remove the switch, it works off the gear selector drum its well up from the sump ,i think the switch has to earth to work the neutral light so it could still be  bad wiring

glad you got the bike sorted, i had the same battery problem ,so here is a quick update on my bike, the battery shows 12.28 volts but as soon as i put any drain on it it goes flat wont even power the oil and neutral light,it then creeps back up to 12.28 volts over time, it has a shorted or dead cell.
hi bryanj i agree with you 100% with your last post  about the gel batteries i have seen them for sale up to

;) just a few lines too confirm what bryanj as already said,
i went for ride today on one of my 1970  cb750's today stopped for a waz as you do after one or two tea breaks ,went to fire the bike up and bang no electrics, right change the fuse i thought ,nice try but no cigar the fuse was ok ,still no power started chaseing wires from battery to ignition and then the headlight still no joy dead as a dodo after about an hour of messing about with every connection i could find, decided too try my battery on my mates bike yep you guessed it ,flat as a witch's t*t
right time too get the van my mate said, but i told him these bikes have never let me down always got home one way or another so because we were in the middle nowhere in wild wales ,we decided let it run down the big hill we had just came up and park near some houses , as i freewheeled down the hill i tried too bump start it and hey presto it fired up, so drove home keeping the revs up on a completely flat battery got home ,swapped batteries and every thing working great
question ? is the battery duff or did it short out ? the flat battery had a bulge on the side of it so i asume it has blown a cell, it is a gel battery that bought about four or five months ago (probably byranj can answer this) are the gel batteries ok on the older bikes ,or was it a bad battery ,by the way i still run another cb750 with a gel battery with no problem so far?

CB750 / Re: Early CB750Uk K0's
« on: July 14, 2009, 10:44:44 AM »
;) Hi yes you have a very early CB750 probably in the first batch as they only came to the UK few and far between with the USA being the big market followed by the rest of the world and then" little ol blighty" them japs knew how to rub it in, i would not worry so much as to when it was registered as it could have been sitting in a shop for some time or the dealer did not want too sell it for a while, and we all know what the DVLA are like ,the USA have a better method of registering the age of manufactor VIN # and not date of registration :) frame1010369 is listed in the parts list as the first uk bike so is a good pointer (I think it was registered in january 1970)
:-\ too add fuel to the fire  i have four CB750's the earliest registered in ireland in march 1970 frame 1015--- apparently one of the first two to go there (a bit of the old blarney methinks) i have an even earlier frame1015--- registered here in the UK june 1970 and a later frame 1018---- that was registered even earlier in april 1970 and too top it all i have a late frame#1032---that was registered in september 1970 after the launch of the CB750k1. the parts you listed are correct for your bike ,the wrinkle tank could have been changed at a later date, i have two bikes with wrinkle tanks and two without,so yours could still be the original,i dont think they made wrinkle tanks much after frame1018---

;) no offence intended but i had been on the wobbly water so i did have my sarcastic head on that night ,nothing i like better than a few cans of stella while tinkering with my bikes  :)
on reflection yes it does sound a little harsh, but a very good mate of mine did lend one of his bikes to a well known custom bike magazine, and they really went too town on it, they scrapped the pegs and exhaust,he wasn't very happy with how they had used the bike, as he thought it was just for a photo shoot, their reply was well we wanna ride  em as well .at the end of the day if people are happy too give their pride and joy too a complete stranger to race up and down the countryside then no problem, but i have spent too much time and money on my CB750's,and i would never do it ,even if they did offer money up front   :-\
and anyway there is nothing they can tell us that we don't already know and have heard it all before . we know what they are like to ride because own and do ride them ,and we can get all the info we need right here and other web sites just like this forum , i don't buy magazines any more simply because of this .i just think how times have changed they call em now "the first superbike" why because they want sell mags and make loads of money ,what ever happened to all the "jap crap" and "rice burners"  ;D we got em

448
and there's me thinking they did not come too the u .k .until jan 1970 and what do i know i only got four 1970 k0  models ,perhaps next year they might give me a bell too test ride mine and they can bugger off, they'd be lucky i don't see any money on offer ,they know where they can shove their insurance they wanna ride a 1969 CB750 perhaps they should buy one like we gotta , maybe this should be posted on the main sohc site plenty of sandcasts  in the good old  USA if they can afford the airfare lol

CB750 / Re: CB750 Front end "wobble"
« on: March 24, 2008, 09:33:18 AM »
:) HI have you checked your front wheel spindle ? this can only be fitted one way although it does fit both ways if you know what i mean (it will be offset resulting in poor handleing and pad wear )but it must be fitted the correct way and the spindle must be inserted from the right hand side when viewed from the back of the bike the tyres should be 3.25-19 front and 4.00-18 rear but you can go up as much as 4.10-19 front 26 psi and 4.25-18 rear 29 psi ,im not sure of the modern sizes (i have always used classic type tyres )but yours sound about right ,i have always used ribbed front tyres as recomended by honda for the cb750 with no problems ,other than that check your wheel bearings does it wobbles above certain speeds or all the time ?
