@oddjob, jubilee clips ordered. A bit expensive but if that does the job I’ll be happy. Thanks for the tip.

Haha No problem Bryan, I found it. It’ll take a month to arrive though. Do you know the bandwidth of yours?
I found some 9mm (which is 3mm less than mine), is it narrow enough?
Also I found some cb550 inlet manifold in Germany for £40, worse the shot? I guess I’ll have to change the O-ring straight away. Find the links below. Cheers

Nicely spotted Brian, it’s hard to find the right jubilee clip size so feel free to send me a link. Thanks

Hey everyone. As odd as it sounds it’s a CB550J3 with F1 carbs. Please find the photo below. Also my idling is hanging when hot for a few seconds. I don’t know if that’s linked. But I struggle to get it running smooth.

CB500/550 / Boot plug for intake manifold

Hello everyone,

It seems like finding the usual boot plug for the intake manifold is nearly impossible unless someone is ready to wait for a month or two. What you guys are using to block the plug without risking a leak?

Thanks a lot
Tom

Yeah I didn’t think I could fix this. Thanks for confirming my thoughts !

CB500/550 / Oil pressure switch not grounding
« on: February 04, 2021, 10:17:58 AM »
Hey everyone,

I have my oil pressure switch that is not grounding apparently. I don’t have any continuity with either the engine or the frame. So the light doesn’t go off when I turn off the engine.

The neutral switch grounds so all good on that side.

Is their any chance to unblock it?

Thanks
Tom

CB500/550 / Rubber manifold K3 & 069A
« on: February 02, 2021, 09:33:18 PM »
Hi everyone,

I tried to look for this answer everywhere but it seems I can find a straight answer, I have a 550 k3 with 069A carbs. The rubbers for the manifold are the K3’s one which means the carbs don’t seat against the rubber (I have a gap of a few mm).

Now that could create  some vacuum issues. The carbs has 2 grooves and my rubbers only 1.

If I buy a manifold rubber for a F1 would that work?

I’ve seen that the intake manifold got 2 grooves while mine has only one so I’m not sure if that would work.

Hey everyone,

So after a couple of month going quiet and working on the bike, I'm back!

So far I've rebuilt the top end, new pistons, re-bore, new rockers, new valve springs, gaskets, you name it.
Also I have re-done the wiring from the ground, I'm also gonna make my lithium battery next week. Not saying I've put some elbow grease to polish the exhaust, engine...

Thanks to the lockdown I literally went down the rabbit hole to make this bike nice and shiny

Now, I have a question. My oil pressure warning light doesn't go off when the engine is not running. I tried to test the continuity between the top screw on the oil pressure switch and the engine or the frame but nothing. That's should mean the sensor doesn't ground anymore if I'm right. Is it the kind of thing that happens often? The oil light worked for some time (like a couple of minutes) beforehand. I tested the continuity between the Neutral switch and the frame and it works fine.

I test the oil pressure and it's fine (65/70psi)

Let me know what you think!
Thanks

Interchangeability / Slowjet for CB550F1
« on: October 16, 2020, 04:10:22 PM »
Hello everyone,

I'm rebuilding my CB550 K3 which is running with Keihin 069A carbs (for 550 F1, someone changed it in the past)

The bike will have straight pipes and pods (I know not ideal but the airbox has been taken off in the past).

However, the slow jets are #38 and I can't run it with the choke OFF, it dies before (and it struggle to get up in the revs). So I guess I'll have to get #42s slow jets. I found the main jets already #110 so that should be good

My main problem is I can't find it anywhere, so I was wondering if their was any compatibility with other Keihin. I tried on Nrp-carbs.co.uk but no luck.

Please let me know your thoughts
Best

Tom
