I ground the end of my main stand lug in a chamfer, I was a bit insane when I was younger. On corners I could feel my feet being pushed up as the footrests were being pushed up by the road. The hero blobs were ground flat in the end.

Ted has a spare 400 harness available, I wonder if it has that lead?

My BIL ran his bike with 3 x 069a carbs with 98s in and 1 x 627B with a 100 in and never noticed the difference.

I swapped him a set of 627Bs for his and that's where these are from. I'll end up breaking them.

I doubt raising the needle would compensate, most likely it would make it worse.

It's possible someone may have just one spare.

Bit late, but that's the Post Office for you. At least they arrived, unlike Roos.

A bulldog tried to bite me during my first test, it ran out at me growling and barking, as I was on my lunch break and I worked on a building site at the time, I was wearing steel toed capped boots, went to kick the dog away and my boot went right in it's mouth, it then clamped down just behind where the toe cap ended and it couldn't let go and I couldn't carry on riding, the owner came out of the house and managed to prise it's jaws apart to allow me to continue, I wasn't going anywhere near those jaws. The examine walked around the corner just as the owner was prising the dog off my boot. For some reason I didn't pass that day, only test I've ever failed and I've taken over 10 tests in my lifetime.

On my retest a month later I almost got knocked off my bike when a car came round the corner being chased by a Panda car, a Vauxhall Viva, the examiner (same bloke) complimented me for taking good avoiding action.

Mine went completely through the system as it ended up exactly like Teds, it may be fibres pass through and then mat onto the mesh. I do know it resulted in oil pressure light flickering on/off and scoring of the oil pump rotor tips, luckily I spotted it as I had an oil pressure gauge fitted at the time so I was able to slow down to avoid a seizure.

It's just typical Honda casting. They really don't do tidying up after them, I'd just run a tap down that and get rid of the flashing.

Must check my own engine to see where I threw the one fitted to that, most likely in the large box of bolts I just lobbed everything into.

Teds 500 won't have that seal DR, it's the bowl type.

He will have an oring between the petrol tap and the tank but it's a thin one in an oval shape. Also one between the bowl and the tap.

Looks like the oil filter has collapsed, had the same thing happen to me although mine almost covered the mesh. Check the filter and see if it has deformed, mine spiraled like someone had wrung it out. That's what you get for using non Honda filters.

When removing the filter Ted, don't forget that the spring has a large washer on top of it that gets stuck to the rubber of the filter and if you're not careful, thrown away with it.
